Harutyun Agha-Sargsyan stated that the actions of the Armenian authorities, which led to the Catholicos of All Armenians standing before the court, will be remembered in history as a national disgrace. He emphasized that this case goes beyond political struggle and touches upon the pillars of national identity.
"If the state assumes the right to interfere in the internal governance of the Church, then it is no longer about one person or one court case," he said. Agha-Sargsyan also noted that this scene, where not only the Catholicos but also six bishops of the Supreme Spiritual Council stood before the court, represents a demonstrative confrontation of state power with the Church.
