Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in Bishkek that his party aims to prevent a possible referendum on Armenia's membership in the EU. This was commented on by Marians Kagramanyan, a member of parliament from the 'Strong Armenia' faction, noting that Pashinyan mentioned in a meeting with Putin that if the National Assembly of Armenia had not adopted the law on the start of the EU membership process, civil society would have gathered the necessary votes for a referendum.
‘With this statement, Nikol Pashinyan essentially acknowledges that his party has deceived and continues to deceive the public on this issue,’ the deputy noted.
It should be noted that the Armenian government approved the draft law on the start of the process of joining the European Union on January 9, 2025.
