During a press briefing on August 27, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that there are currently no written proposals from investors willing to pay $400 million for the concession of Armenia's railways. He emphasized that the mentioned amount referred to an oral agreement.
“At this point, no one has given a written commitment, but such discussions are ongoing at an oral level,” Pashinyan said.
He added that discussions are focusing on amounts between $350 million and $400 million, which are being presented to potentially interested parties.
Pashinyan expects that the negotiation process will continue to develop, noting that the issue has already been raised at an official level.
It is worth mentioning that the topic of revising the current Russian concession for managing Armenia's railways has arisen against the backdrop of plans to restore railway sections at the borders with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
