Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a meeting was held to discuss the steps to be taken in 2027 for the implementation of universal health insurance. This was reported by the Government's press service.
“In particular, the characteristics of the 2027 strategy were presented, including the possibilities of including those earning up to 200,000 drams per month in the system. The involvement of employers in the process of paying insurance premiums was addressed, as well as the continuation of the policy of subsidizing insurance premiums for wage workers from the state budget. Meeting participants exchanged views on the rate of insurance premiums paid by wage workers based on their salary levels.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that various scenarios are being discussed based on several directions. “One direction, of course, is the necessity of including people in the universal health insurance system. The second is the assumption that in the low-wage segment, there exists a certain shadow scheme, in our belief and knowledge. It is also a challenge for the government to solve the social issue without encouraging the shadow economy. This is why we are having such discussions,” he said.
