On August 8, 2026, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Armenian prime minister’s office said.
During the phone call, the sides exchanged views on the first anniversary of the Peace Summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, with the support of U.S. President Donald Trump, during which peace was established between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the text of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia was initialed.
The sides particularly noted the important role of President Trump and the U.S. government in advancing the peace process.
The sides noted the progress achieved over the past year in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the conversation, the development of trade and economic ties between the two countries was highlighted as a tangible manifestation of the benefits of peace. In this context, the sides noted exports of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia, as well as the transportation of transit cargo through Azerbaijan to Armenia and from Armenia to other destinations.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on the implementation of the TRIPP route in accordance with the agreements reached in Washington.
The sides emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to advance the peace process and ensure lasting peace, stability, connectivity and economic cooperation in the region.
