The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, avoided directly answering the question of whose initiative it was that his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin did not take place, which he had announced in early June:
“The meeting was not planned. And the phrase ‘a meeting will take place in a short time’ at the level of state leaders does not imply that it will happen within a day or a week,” the Prime Minister said.
He noted that he was referring to another meeting and expressed confidence that a meeting would take place in the near future.
When asked whether a meeting could be expected in August during the Eurasian Economic Union intergovernmental council meeting, Pashinyan did not provide a direct answer.
