Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov met in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, discussing the development of bilateral relations, expansion of economic cooperation and prospects for deeper transport links.
Sadyr Japarov welcomed Nikol Pashinyan and congratulated him on the successful conduct of the parliamentary elections and his appointment as prime minister.
“I wish you success in accomplishing the tasks aimed at the country’s further development and improving the well-being of the Armenian people. Under your leadership, Armenia has achieved significant results in recent years in socio-economic development and the implementation of important transformations, while also consistently increasing its role on the international stage,” the Kyrgyz president said.
Sadyr Japarov highlighted the Armenian prime minister’s efforts to foster an atmosphere of friendship and good-neighborly relations in the South Caucasus. He expressed confidence that ensuring peace and stability is an important prerequisite for sustainable growth and improving people’s well-being.
“In this context, Kyrgyzstan attaches importance to the further development of Kyrgyz-Armenian relations based on traditional friendship, mutual respect and the shared values of our countries. Our interaction is characterized by constructive political dialogue and a desire to expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. I expect today’s meeting to give new impetus to Kyrgyz-Armenian friendship and enable us to outline promising steps for the further development of partnership between our two countries,” the Kyrgyz president said.
Pashinyan thanked Japarov for the warm hospitality and congratulated him on Kyrgyzstan’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
“I hope that within this format we will succeed in deepening our relations and cooperation. I also congratulate you on the achievements that are already visible to the naked eye. It is truly very impressive,” the Armenian prime minister said.
Addressing the high economic growth recorded in Kyrgyzstan, Nikol Pashinyan said it would contribute to improving living standards in the country, describing it as a success of the Kyrgyz government and of Sadyr Japarov personally.
“And, of course, this creates new opportunities for economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. Unfortunately, although both our countries are members of the Eurasian Economic Union, the volume of our mutual trade is not particularly large because of logistical challenges, but recently there has been some progress. I am confident that we will succeed in developing cooperation in the transport sector. This will contribute to expanding mutual trade between Kyrgyzstan and Armenia,” Prime Minister Pashinyan said.
