Papoyan and Shirgolami Discuss Issues of Developing Armenian-Iranian Economic Cooperation

The meeting addressed issues of expanding trade and investments

The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, met on August 25 with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia, Khalil Shirgolami. The Deputy Minister Anushik Avetyan was also present at the meeting.

According to the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, the meeting addressed issues of developing Armenian-Iranian economic cooperation, expanding trade and investments, and enhancing infrastructure and business connections.

Minister Papoyan noted that the high-level political dialogue between Armenia and Iran should be transformed into more tangible economic results by expanding the presence of Armenian products in the Iranian market and making more effective use of the opportunities provided by the EAEU-Iran free trade agreement.

The meeting also discussed prospects for energy and logistics cooperation, as well as the possibilities for long-term supplies of diesel fuel and liquefied gas.

Minister Gevorg Papoyan suggested considering the expansion of cooperation in several key areas: expanding trade and Armenian exports, joint production and investments, energy and logistics cooperation, and continuous improvement of border procedures.
