Where Did Nikol Pashinyan's Dream Village Go?

Nikol Pashinyan's plans and the story of the village relocation

Four years ago, in the summer of 2022, during one of the government meetings, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the construction of a completely new village in the history of independent Armenia. This project was related to the construction of the Kaps water reservoir, during which the village of Jradzor was to be relocated 5 kilometers closer to Gyumri.

Nikol Pashinyan stated that it is important for the project to proceed successfully and for the new village to meet the demands of the 21st century. However, the Chinese company "Shansi Construction Investment Group," which won the international competition, was removed from the project in 2025, leading to its failure.

A loan of 68.5 million euros was provided for this project by the German KFW bank, but now government representatives indicate that they are in the phase of ordering a new project, and construction is expected to begin at the start of next year.
