Oviyo's Clarification on Claims of Turning Free Service into Paid

Oviyo refutes claims regarding the conversion of free service to paid

Oviyo has issued a clarification regarding an article published in the newspaper ‘Zhoghvorud’ which states:

“Oviyo considers it necessary to clarify the information presented in the publication of the newspaper ‘Zhoghvorud’, which states: ‘The company demands compensation from subscribers for its mistakes’ regarding the registration of the Static IP service.

The publication creates the impression that the company is demanding payment from subscribers for a service that was previously provided for free, and that this demand is based on a technical error made by the company. This is not true.

In reality, for some subscribers, the Static IP service continued to be active due to a technical issue, but the monthly fee for it was not recorded in the billing system. After discovering the issue, the company did not demand payment for the unrecorded amounts from the previous period, but instead contacted subscribers to clarify whether they wished to continue using the service.

During the calls, subscribers were clearly informed that no payment would be required for the unrecorded period due to the technical issue.

This means that the company is not trying to collect previously unrecorded amounts from subscribers due to its technical error. On the contrary, the service was actually provided during the previous period, but no payment was collected from subscribers, and no obligations will arise for that period in the future.

It is important to note that the company is obliged to clarify whether the subscriber wishes to continue using the Static IP service. Only upon confirming the desire to use the service will the billing for the established monthly fee be resumed from the current month.

For subscribers who have indicated that they no longer wish to use the service, no billing will be carried out.

It is also important to note that the Static IP service is provided to subscribers based on their application, and at the time of connecting to the service, subscribers are informed of the service cost of 1,500 drams per month.

This concerns the restoration of the billing mechanism that was temporarily not operational due to a technical issue and clarifying the subscriber's desire to continue receiving the service in the future.

Considering the above, the claim regarding ‘turning a free service into a paid one’ is not true. Oviyo emphasizes its commitment to transparency and responsibility towards its subscribers and is ready to provide additional clarifications if necessary.
