The American developer of ChatGPT, OpenAI, expects to achieve an annual revenue of over $40 billion. Financial indicators support OpenAI's plans to go public, although earlier reports indicated a delay of the IPO until 2027. The main drivers of growth have been subscription sales and advertising revenues.
The American company OpenAI, which develops artificial intelligence systems, expects to generate more than $40 billion in revenue for the current year. These figures are expected to strengthen the company's position ahead of its IPO, according to Bloomberg, citing informed sources.
The issue of primary public offering of shares had been raised in the media earlier. In May, the Wall Street Journal reported on OpenAI's imminent IPO. However, by the end of June, the New York Times learned that the company intended to postpone the offering until 2027.
According to sources familiar with the situation, OpenAI's current financial indicators allow for a forecast of annual revenue exceeding $40 billion. This would approximately double the growth rates recorded at the end of 2025 and provide the company with a solid foundation for its Wall Street debut.
As the agency notes, the company's revenues have significantly increased in recent months. This has been facilitated, in particular, by the development of software for coding through AI. Additionally, positive dynamics have been supported by subscription sales and the emerging advertising business. Furthermore, growth is also observed in the core consumer segment.
Earlier, OpenAI's CFO Sarah Fryar stated that the company's revenue exceeded $20 billion for the year 2025.
It is worth noting that OpenAI is the creator of the ChatGPT chatbot. The service gained immense popularity after its launch in late November 2022, gathering its first million users in less than a week. In 2015, one of the co-founders of the company was American entrepreneur Elon Musk, but he later ceased collaboration with the startup.
