Armenia’s minimum pension will be raised again to 47,000 drams, Labour and Welfare Minister Arsen Torosyan said during a briefing.
Torosyan said the social package programme, in place since 2012, will end in January 2027. He said the programme had fulfilled its role and was no longer seen as a relevant policy tool.
According to the minister, the government is replacing the social package with higher-quality medical insurance for working citizens. From January 2027, that system will also apply to employees earning less than 200,000 drams.
Torosyan said the social package had been a targeted solution for certain groups of public employees and had been treated as a substitute for wage increases. He added that different groups of beneficiaries already use reforms introduced in recent years and will also benefit from new systems due to take effect on January 1, 2027.
