Nissan Abandons Radical Overhaul of Qashqai

Nissan makes changes to the Qashqai model due to financial difficulties

Nissan is currently in a very difficult financial situation. As a result, the company is forced to minimize all risks associated with the development of new vehicles. Consequently, the Japanese company has abandoned plans to make the new 2028 Nissan Qashqai fully electric.

During road tests, a lightly camouflaged prototype of the crossover was spotted. The placement of the camouflage indicates that Nissan will modify the grille and part of the front bumper. However, other exterior details will remain unchanged.

The portal motor.es, which published the first spy photos of the Qashqai, reports that Nissan plans to make extensive changes to the interior. Specifically, the crossover's interior is expected to be styled after the electric Leaf.

Given the increasing pressure from Chinese companies, Nissan must improve its own e-Power hybrid system as part of the planned update for the Qashqai. At the same time, the Japanese manufacturer may abandon gasoline engine options to reduce the average emissions level of the model, as required by the Euro 7 standard.

Therefore, it is likely that some of the future Qashqai's engines will be combined with a 48-volt starter-generator. The premiere of the Japanese model is expected to take place next year.
