The Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, announced that "the bills proposing amendments to the Electoral Code and the Law on Referendums introduce a residency requirement for exercising the right to participate in elections and voting." She noted that there was a public demand for these changes and assured that the project would guarantee the participation in elections of those citizens whose connection to the state has a real nature.
Sargsyan also suggested that the National Assembly discuss the project in a 24-hour mode.
