The preliminary investigation of the criminal case concerning National Assembly deputy Narek Karapetyan and the head of the executive body of the "Strong Armenia" party, Aleksan Aleksanyan, has been completed, and the case has been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court with an indictment. The case has been assigned to Judge Levon Petrosyan.
It should be noted that Aleksan (Alik) Aleksanyan has been in custody since June 3, 2026, while Narek Karapetyan has been subjected to a travel ban and bail of 1 billion drams.
Aleksanyan is accused of creating and leading a criminal organization in collaboration with Narek Karapetyan, the general director of "Tashir Capital" LLC, and other individuals, while being the head of the public organization "Our Way" and the executive body of the "Strong Armenia" party.
According to the indictment, their goal was to illegally influence the course and results of the National Assembly elections held on June 7, 2026, to secure more votes in favor of the "Strong Armenia" party and the coalition formed on its basis, as well as to create the impression of a large number of supporters for this political force.
According to the indictment, Aleksanyan and Karapetyan had previously agreed and established the public organization "Our Way" on September 9, 2025. It was created not to achieve the goals stipulated in the charter, but to conceal the true purpose.
According to the indictment, through the organization, they materially incentivized citizens to participate in gatherings and support the electoral processes in favor of the "Strong Armenia" party and the coalition formed on its basis. This scheme circumvented the restrictions that prevented the "Tashir" charitable foundation, "Inteco Energo," and "Tashir Capital" LLC from transferring funds for political or electoral purposes to various individuals and organizations.
According to the indictment, the activities carried out through the organization caused particularly large property damage to the state. Additionally, Aleksanyan, Karapetyan, and others, using their official powers and the influence derived from them, committed large-scale money laundering.
The establishment of the "Strong Armenia" party and the activities of the organization
The "Strong Armenia" party was registered on December 8, 2025. Narek Karapetyan, as the general director of "Tashir Capital" LLC, managed the current activities of the company and controlled its assets, including financial resources.
According to the indictment, Narek Karapetyan effectively co-led and coordinated the work of the office of the "Strong Armenia" party and other offices of the "Our Way" organization together with Aleksanyan. The charter of the organization stipulated, in particular, the implementation of national welfare programs, the preservation and strengthening of Armenian family values, the upbringing of youth based on national, spiritual, and moral values, the development of civil society, and the preservation of national identity. However, according to the indictment, the true purpose of the organization differed from this. It was created and used to support the political and electoral activities of the "Strong Armenia" party and the coalition formed on its basis, as well as to materially incentivize citizens to participate in gatherings.
According to the indictment, criminally derived financial resources registered under the public organization were used for this activity. From September 10, 2025, to February 5, 2026, 114 offices of the "Our Way" organization were opened in various communities in Armenia, including Yerevan. Lease agreements for these premises were signed by Aleksanyan or a person authorized by him.
According to the indictment, these offices were not used for the purposes stipulated in the charter of the public organization. They effectively served to organize the activities of the "Strong Armenia" party, including as party offices and electoral headquarters. During the same period, according to the indictment, this structure organized material incentives for citizens to participate in gatherings and support the "Strong Armenia" party and later the coalition of parties with the same name.
It should be noted that both Aleksanyan and Karapetyan do not accept the charges brought against them. They believe that they are being politically persecuted.
