Parliamentary speeches are taking place against the backdrop of discussions regarding the candidacy of the head of the NA commission on European integration, Areg Osepian, nominated by the opposition faction "Strong Armenia". In his speech, faction leader Narek Karapetyan raised the question of how integration into the European Union is perceived. According to him, there are three countries in Europe with very interesting experiences: Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. These countries have chosen one model: they did not join the EU because they considered it a political structure, but they are integrated into the European system with all their institutions. "What has this led to? Switzerland remains free from all conflicts, Norway remains free from contradictions, while the United Kingdom has chosen a different path," said Narek Karapetyan, pointing to Armenia's contradictory path. "We see and understand that all Armenian institutions must be localized according to European models. There are things we do not agree with, as a conservative force, we do not agree with models aimed at family. The judicial system, economic policy, education system - we will develop and work in this direction. Armenia must be a country living by European standards in all respects, but before making a political choice, we must see whether this choice will lead to confrontation between regional powers and the European Union. Will we receive a strong blow as a result? One of the most important problems in our country is to prevent clashes at our doors," said the politician.
