Narek Karapetyan: Azerbaijan must return tens of thousands of hectares to Armenia

Azerbaijan must return tens of thousands of hectares to Armenia

Azerbaijan, within the framework of the delimitation and demarcation process, must return tens of thousands of hectares of territory to Armenia. This was stated by the head of the "Strong Armenia" faction, Narek Karapetyan, during a press conference on August 24.

According to him, this concerns hundreds of hectares in Paravakar, Goris, thousands of hectares in Jermuk, and so on. Karapetyan believes that this will be an indicator of whether Azerbaijan is ready for long-term and guaranteed peace with Armenia.

"Azerbaijan must first return the lands that should be under Armenia's control. We are talking about hundreds, thousands, and even tens of thousands of hectares. Only after that will we understand whether this country is looking towards long-term peace or is trying to exert pressure on us from all sides and get as much as it can," - said the politician.

Touching on the issue of the future transfer of the Armenian village of Tigranashen in the Ararat region under the guise of so-called enclaves, he noted that during the pre-election period, the authorities did not inform the residents of the village that they intended to surrender it.

"It is unclear what was meant then. But the essence is that there were no such discussions about surrendering Tigranashen at that time. And when many opposition figures spoke about this, they were told that they were only talking about the negative. We continue to assert that if the Armenian people do not come to their senses, we will face even greater problems in the future," - concluded Karapetyan.
