Moscow again demands a referendum from Yerevan by December. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that they expect a decision from Yerevan before the December summit of the leaders of the Eurasian Union. He noted that if the call for a referendum is not heard, the leaders will take appropriate steps.
Nikol Pashinyan stated that the referendum is currently contentless, and the Armenian side insists that there is no procedure for removing a member state from the EAEU. Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia will decide for itself when to hold a referendum.
Armenian parliament member Sarkis Khandanian stressed that a referendum will only be scheduled if Armenia's application for EU membership is officially submitted.
Relations with Russia have been tense recently, and Pashinyan stated that if Armenia is excluded from the CSTO, Yerevan will accept this as a fact.
