The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, met with representatives of the World Bank (WB) and the Territorial Development Fund of Armenia. During the meeting, they discussed the progress of the WB program "Development of Tourism and Regional Infrastructure" (TRIP), as well as issues related to improving its implementation mechanisms, increasing flexibility, and accelerating relevant processes.
Emphasizing the importance of the program for tourism development and modernization of regional infrastructure, they confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation to ensure the effective implementation of the planned activities.
The TRIP program includes an investment of 120 million euros for the development of tourism clusters in Goris, Areni, Jermuk, Yeghegis, Dvin, Gyumri, and Dilijan. The program aims to stimulate the development of wine, wellness, adventure, cultural, educational, and eco-tourism.
It is noteworthy that in the first half of 2026, Armenia was visited by 1.041 million tourists, which is 14.8% higher than the previous year's figure.
