On July 14, a meeting was held under the leadership of Mesrop Mesropyan, the head of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia, with representatives and experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This was reported by the Commission.
The meeting discussed the main directions of the Commission's activities and the regulations applied in the public services sector, including state-owned companies. In particular, the mechanisms for setting tariffs, tariff methodology, and the approaches applied in energy, natural gas, water supply, telecommunications, and other regulated sectors were addressed. The parties also discussed the process of approving investment programs, the criteria for their evaluation, and the impact of investments on tariff formation. Regulatory tools used by the Commission were presented, which simultaneously contribute to improving service quality and protecting consumer interests. Special attention was given to the current model of the electricity market, as well as the development of a competitive environment and directions for further improvement of the sector.
