The head of the Turan analytical service and a member of the LINKS Europe platform on Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, Mehman Aliyev, believes that the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) route and the Nakhchivan section should be united into a single international transport project.

According to Aliyev, back in 2021, at expert hearings organized by LINKS Europe in Georgia, he suggested to the Armenian side not to abandon the idea of granting international status to the road. He justified his position with the experience of Azerbaijani oil and gas projects. According to him, Armenia did not strike the pipelines connecting Azerbaijan with Turkey and Europe during the 2020 war, as they were backed not only by Azerbaijani interests but also by transnational companies, foreign governments, and consumers from various countries.
Mehman Aliyev believes that the same logic applies to the Zangezur route. The involvement of American, European, and regional investors in the international consortium could enhance the security of the road through broad stakeholder engagement.
