A Chinese court has ordered the milk tea chain Molly Tea to pay the French fashion house Louis Vuitton 10.3 million yuan (approximately $1.5 million or 117.5 million rubles) for trademark infringement. This was reported by China Daily, citing Nanfang Metropolis Daily.
The court concluded that Molly Tea's logo infringes upon Louis Vuitton's rights to seven registered trademarks that feature a four-leaf flower design.
The French company filed the lawsuit in May 2025. According to the court ruling issued on June 29, Molly Tea is required to pay 10 million yuan (114.1 million rubles) as compensation for damages, as well as 300,000 yuan (3.4 million rubles) for court costs. Molly Tea has announced its intention to appeal the ruling.
Molly Tea operates over 2,000 outlets in China and more than 50 abroad. It is noted that both the company's logo and Louis Vuitton's signature monogram feature the four-leaf flower design.
According to the publication, the Chinese company has repeatedly attempted to register floral-themed trademarks for restaurant services and food products, but most of the applications have been rejected. Only the logo containing the name Molly Tea in Chinese has been registered.
