“Questions are being raised by colleagues and our deputies about what will happen if the country declares bankruptcy. International funding will enter the country, financial institutions will be managed, and international financial organizations will start dictating to us what taxes and salaries to give or not to give,” said Narek Karapetyan, the leader of the ‘Strong Armenia’ faction, in the National Assembly.
He noted that this was the case with Lebanon and Greece. According to him, Greece spent 15 years to return to the same level, while Lebanon has not yet recovered.
“Do you know how much housing prices were in Lebanon before the crisis? Many times higher than in Armenia. The same level of activity existed, but there was one thing missing: there was no industry, and agriculture was not developed,” said Narek Karapetyan.
