Poland’s KGHM eyes cooperation with Armenian partners

The sides discussed partnership and knowledge-sharing opportunities in Armenia’s mining sector.

Polish state-owned mining company KGHM has expressed interest in working with Armenian partners. The issue was discussed on September 10, when Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia Asatur Vardanyan received a delegation led by the company’s director, Remigiusz Paszkiewicz.

According to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the meeting was also attended by Goar Abajyan, director of the Investment Support Center foundation, as well as representatives of Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Welcoming the guests, Asatur Vardanyan said Armenia’s mining industry is one of the country’s key economic sectors and remains attractive from an investment perspective.

For his part, Remigiusz Paszkiewicz thanked the Armenian side for the meeting and said KGHM, which is among the major mining companies in Canada, the US and Poland, is also considering sectoral cooperation with Armenian companies. He said this could include both technological cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and expertise.

During the meeting, held in a question-and-answer format, the sides outlined their expectations, reviewed potential partnership opportunities and discussed prospects for cooperation with the major mining companies operating in Armenia.
