Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the European Union is losing its advantages due to its shortsightedness, and Armenia's desire to join it will soon fade. He made this remark at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
“Economically, the European Union is losing its advantages due to various factors, including its shortsightedness. Our Serbian friends and now our Armenian partners continue to say they want to join the EU. I am confident that their desire will fade very soon,” Lavrov said.
Recently, Armenian authorities announced that they would soon begin the process of applying for EU membership, although they do not see the need for a referendum, which has been demanded by official Moscow.
