Kyiv Expects 220 Million Euros in Aid from the European Commission

Ukraine Requests Support for Grain Producers

The European Commission has confirmed that Kyiv has requested 220 million euros in aid to support Ukrainian grain producers.

“Ukraine has outlined in this request how it intends to utilize its grain production,” said EU spokesperson Guillaume Mercier during a press briefing in Brussels. According to him, this involves subsidizing bank loan interest rates and securing loans for agricultural producers.

At the same time, Mercier noted that the European Commission is closely monitoring the situation in the Black Sea, which is impacting agriculture and the economy.

“We continue to stay in touch with our Ukrainian partners, and I can confirm that a meeting recently took place between the EU delegation and the Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture,” the European official stated, adding that the European Commission is also discussing alternative routes for transporting Ukrainian agricultural products with Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine through the “Solidarity Corridors.”
