"The CEC does not have a deficit of independence; it is more independent than ever" - Vahagn Hovakimyan

Vahagn Hovakimyan assures that the CEC is independent and ensures the legality of electoral processes.

"The CEC does not have a deficit of independence; it is more independent than ever," said Vahagn Hovakimyan, the chairman of the Central Electoral Commission, during a Constitutional Court session, addressing the remarks of Aram Vardevanyan, a representative of the 'Strong Armenia' party. Hovakimyan noted that over the past 3.5 years, the CEC has conducted more than 10 elections, including the Yerevan City Council elections, and their results have not been contested.
"Appealing to the Constitutional Court is a way for political forces to gain political dividends, but one should not strike at the institution, as this does not serve your interests," he said. Hovakimyan also emphasized that the CEC will continue to ensure the expression of citizens' will and that any claims without evidence cannot be accepted as fact.
