Authorities are also discussing the issue with the private sector, MP Eduard Aghajanyan said.

The Armenian government is discussing a possible increase in the minimum wage, Eduard Aghajanyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, told reporters on September 18.

He said the authorities are also holding talks with the private sector, as the labor market itself plays a major role in regulating such issues. At the same time, the lawmaker did not specify whether the minimum wage could be raised from January 1, 2027, alongside planned pay-related changes in the state system.

Aghajanyan also said the government will introduce a KPI (Key Performance Indicator) system for calculating salaries. The mechanism is intended to help assess the performance of individual officials.

He added that a similar standard cannot be applied to members of parliament. “The effectiveness of an MP’s work should be judged by the citizen during the next parliamentary elections, when deciding whether to grant a mandate or not,” he said.

Armenia last raised the minimum monthly wage in September 2023, when it increased from 68,000 drams to 75,000 drams.
