The Armenian government has decided to provide state support for the procurement of figs and peaches. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated that the fig harvest in the Syunik region is quite good, and the peach harvest across the country is also high, thus the sector needs support.
"We are maintaining export subsidies, and exports are continuing; in this case, we are adding a new component — we will provide compensation of 125 drams for each kilogram of figs and peaches procured," said Papoyan.
It is expected that by September 1, around 3000 tons of peaches and 400 tons of figs will be procured:
