The leader of Strong Armenia said the country will not be able to postpone for long a decision between pursuing the process of joining the European Union and keeping its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
He said the issue is a strategic one that concerns not only foreign policy, but also Armenia’s economic model, its markets and its integration framework.
Karapetyan said prolonged uncertainty on the matter could complicate Armenia’s next steps. He stressed that sooner or later Yerevan will have to clarify its position on the choice between the EU and the EAEU.
The remarks come amid continuing public and political debate over whether Armenia’s European track is compatible with its membership in the EAEU.
