Narek Karapetyan, an MP from the Strong Armenia alliance, stated that the European Integration Committee, whose chair candidate is to be nominated by the faction, has barely operated over the past five years and that they plan to intensify its activities.
The faction will nominate candidates to chair the standing committees on European Integration and on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection.
Speaking to reporters, the Strong Armenia MP said the committee had met only once or twice a year, if it had met at all, Aysor.am reported.
“We will intensify the working process and also show our public that we want to bring genuine diversification: increased trade with Europe and localization of European institutions. We will work actively so that people can also see that claims about developing relations with only one side are wrong,” Karapetyan stressed.
Civil Contract holds 64 seats in the National Assembly, Strong Armenia has 29, while the Hayastan alliance holds 12.
