Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and a group of investors have signed an agreement with Fenway Sports Group to acquire a minority stake in the English football club Liverpool. This was reported by CNBC.

The consortium will acquire about one-third of the team's shares, with the deal valued at approximately $7.1 billion. According to the terms of the agreement, the investment group has an option to acquire a controlling stake in the club within the next 12 months, which is estimated to be worth around $8 billion.

The largest investment, exceeding $1 billion, has been made by K5 Global, where Jeff Bezos is one of the lead investors. Fenway Sports Group President Mike Gordon noted that “the club's approach continues to attract the interest of respected investors and business leaders worldwide.”

This marks Jeff Bezos's first investment in a sports asset, although he had previously considered the possibility of buying American football teams. The entrepreneur's net worth is estimated at $272 billion.

Liverpool Football Club is considered the fourth most valuable in the world, valued at $6 billion, and has won 20 championship titles throughout its history, the latest being in 2025.
