YEREVAN, August 12. /ARKA/. Iran intends to join the New Development Bank (NDB) established by BRICS countries in the near future, said Abdolnaser Hemmati, the head of the Central Bank of Iran, as reported by IRNA.
According to him, the New Development Bank is one of the most significant outcomes of cooperation within BRICS.
During BRICS events in India, Hemmati also stated Tehran's intention to expand the use of national currencies in mutual trade and develop bilateral and trilateral currency and banking cooperation with the member countries.
About the New Development Bank
The New Development Bank was established in 2015 by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to finance infrastructure and sustainable development projects. In addition to the five founding countries, the NDB has members including Bangladesh, UAE, Egypt, Algeria, and Uzbekistan.
