Tehran Calls for Removal of All Obstacles for Cargo and Passenger Transit at the Norduz Border Point

Iran emphasizes the importance of effective use of the Norduz border point

Official Iranian sources report that Tehran has called for the removal of all obstacles to the transit of goods and people through the Norduz border point, located on the Iran-Armenia border. This call was made by the secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones, Hossein Forouzan.

According to him, constant control and precise coordination among all agencies responsible for this border are necessary to address issues and tasks at the Norduz border point.

Forouzan added that to facilitate trade and transit processes at this border point, executive and supervisory bodies must avoid making fragmented decisions.

He stated that reducing the downtime of the vehicle fleet and increasing the level of customs service are directly related to the development of exports, and obstacles on this path must be removed quickly.

“The development of physical infrastructure and simplification of customs procedures in Norduz are necessary for the effective use of the transit capacities of this area,” noted the secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones.

It is worth noting that the Norduz border point, located near the Araks River, is the only land border between Iran and Armenia and plays a strategic role in the country's trade relations with members of the Eurasian Economic Union.
