How Nvidia's CEO Dines and Boosts Stock Prices

Jensen Huang discusses the impact of his dinners on stock prices

Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang dines with someone, and the next day, according to him, the company's stock price "doubles."

As reported by Fortune about Nvidia, people are so interested in where exactly the CEO of Nvidia dines that there is even a special blog tracking his lavish dinners around the world. However, the real intrigue, as Huang stated during the release of impressive second-quarter results, is with whom he dines.

"One of the most entertaining things is just figuring out where I am dining and who I am dining with. The next day their stock price doubles," Huang said during a quarterly conference call with investors.

In June, the Jensen Eats blog reported that Huang had been in South Korea and visited a Korean barbecue restaurant. He dined with the presidents of SK Group and LG Group, as well as the founder of Naver.

According to Fortune, the day before that meeting, LG's stock had risen by 30% amid reports of the upcoming meeting between Kui and Huang. The stocks of LG's subsidiaries also rose: the increase in shares of listed divisions ranged from 17% to 29%.

This "domino effect" extends even to the places where Huang eats. Last October, he drank beer and ate chicken with Samsung Electronics President Lee Jae-Yong and Hyundai Motor Executive Chairman Chung Eui-sun. Bloomberg reported that after that, shares of Cherrybro, a poultry processing company, Kyochon F&B Co., a fried chicken restaurant chain, and Neuromeka Co., which produces robots for frying chicken, rose.
