If SpaceX achieves its goals, the company's value will exceed that of the entire rest of the world. This statement was made by the company's CEO Elon Musk on social media.
In response to a comment from a user on X, who questioned the multibillion-dollar collaboration between SpaceX and Anthropic in the field of artificial intelligence computational power, Musk wrote: "It seems you do not understand that SpaceX will be worth more than the entire rest of the world if we achieve our goals."
According to Barchart, this statement quickly spread on social media, as it referred to a valuation of the company's capitalization that significantly exceeds even the boldest forecasts. The article states that after the IPO in June 2026, SpaceX's market value surpassed $2 trillion.
At first glance, these words contradict another statement made by Musk, the publication notes.
During the SpaceX IPO, entrepreneur Peter Diamandis asked him about the long-term implications of the development of artificial intelligence and automation. Instead of speculating about wealth, Musk suggested that money itself could lose its significance over time.
"I think that at some point in the future, money will cease to matter," he said.
Musk stated that the development of artificial intelligence and robotics could lead to such an abundance of goods and services that their volume would exceed the amount of money in circulation. This would lead to sustained deflation and reduce the role of traditional currency.
At the same time, Musk has repeatedly emphasized that even in such a world, physical limitations will not disappear.
"There will still be limitations related to electricity and material resources," he noted.
According to Barchart, this explains SpaceX's desire to move beyond the rocket-building industry. The company is developing the Starmind project, a proposed group of satellites for artificial intelligence tasks. It is expected to provide enormous computational power in orbit using the nearly limitless solar energy available in space. The first prototypes are scheduled for launch in 2027.
In this context, Musk's statement that one day SpaceX could be worth more than the entire rest of the world does not necessarily relate to the company's stock price, Barchart writes. In his opinion, the key factor in the new economic era will be control over vital infrastructure - energy sources, computational power, and access to space, especially if traditional money truly loses its central significance.
