The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran announced today that the reopening of the Hormuz Strait is not dependent on negotiations between Iran and Oman, but is conditioned by the acceptance of Iran's terms by the US.
Recently, a US official informed Reuters about the progress made between Iran and Oman, which could soon lead to the reopening of the Hormuz Strait and the restoration of oil exports. Oil exports have been disrupted due to the ongoing US war against Iran for the past five months.
"The reopening of the Hormuz Strait is conditioned by specific mechanisms and terms set by the Islamic Republic of Iran and is not related to the ongoing negotiations between Iran and Oman," said the spokesman for the Revolutionary Guards, Hossein Mohebi, as quoted by the Iranian Tasnim news agency.
Later, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that an agreement on a new shipping route through the Hormuz Strait between Iran and Oman is "very close".
