Idram and IDBank said they are continuing financial literacy initiatives for children and teenagers in Armenia, combining education with tools that can be used in everyday life. In the companies’ view, theory alone is not enough: children also need to compare options, understand risks and make responsible decisions in real situations.
The article cites PISA 2022 data for OECD countries showing that, on average, only 11% of 15-year-old students demonstrate skills matching the highest, Level 5, in financial literacy. It also notes that 63% of teenagers have a bank account and 86% made online purchases over the past year, underscoring the need for safe behaviour in the digital financial environment.
The publication also points to a link between knowledge and behaviour. Teenagers with stronger financial literacy save money 72% more often and compare prices before a purchase 50% more often. At the same time, 64% of teenagers regularly discuss their spending with their parents, and children who do so show better results in financial literacy testing.
For Armenia, the companies refer to PISA 2025 figures showing that only 28% of 15-year-old students reached at least Level 2 in mathematical literacy, while 1% reached the highest levels. In the companies’ assessment, this highlights the need to develop not only knowledge but also practical thinking and the ability to make informed choices.
Against that backdrop, Idram and IDBank say they run financial literacy courses in the format of interactive discussions and real-life examples, with content adapted for different age groups. In parallel, the Idram Junior app, designed for children and teenagers aged 8-16, allows users to make contactless QR payments, top up mobile services and manage personal funds under parental supervision. Parents transfer money, see spending history and can use that information to discuss finances at home.
The companies argue that a financially literate society is built not only through textbook definitions but through daily practice. In their view, the courses and Idram Junior complement each other by combining knowledge with hands-on experience. IDBank and Idram are supervised by the Central Bank of Armenia.
