YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. The vacation season is traditionally a hot time not only for tourists but also for fraudsters. One of the most dangerous schemes in recent years targets clients of hotel booking services:
- Hotel system hacking: criminals gain access to the hotel's operational system, allowing them to see real customer data.
- Convincing email: after accessing this data, criminals send messages through Booking.com’s chat, claiming payment data needs urgent confirmation.
- Fake payment page: the link leads to a site visually indistinguishable from the real Booking.com.
- Money theft: once the victim enters their bank card details, they are captured by the fraudsters.
IDBank advises: do not click on links from emails, check the website address, call the hotel directly, and never re-enter card details for verification.
