A cargo ship was hit by an unknown origin projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, reports the UK Maritime Trade Organization (UKMTO), adding that there are no casualties.
According to the organization, the projectile struck the hull of a Bulk Carrier on Friday evening around 8:00 PM.
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz has been tense for several months, as the US and Israel began military operations against Iran. Both the US and Iran claim to control the strait, through which 1/5 of the world's consumed oil was transported before the war, but now only a limited number of vessels are passing through.
The US President announced today that the Strait of Hormuz will soon be declared US territory, while the US Treasury is preparing “unprecedented” sanctions against Iran, which will be detailed next week.
