Hormuz Shipping Remains Subdued Despite Apparent Reopening

Hormuz shipping has not yet recovered

Hormuz shipping, considered a vital international trade route, remains subdued despite U.S. efforts to clear mines. Iran's military capabilities significantly deter commercial vessels from entering, leading to a substantial decrease in shipping.

Only five commodity vessels crossed on Tuesday, compared to around 130 ships per day before the war. Iran is offering a temporary and limited corridor, but full normalization is conditional on sanctions relief, an end to the U.S. blockade, and cessation of Israeli operations.

This situation creates tension in the region, where the U.S. and Iran are engaged in a battle of economic pressure.
