A deal with Canada
If an agreement moves forward, it would make a new round of tariffs threatened against our neighbors to the north melt away like a thin sheet of ice on Wapawekka Lake in Saskatchewan. The iShares MSCI Canada ETF (EWC) is just off Monday's high point. The EWC is up almost 15% in 2026 and up around 32% in a year:
Lagarde's European warning
Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, said Wednesday that she saw big problems in Europe that could have a negative impact on the economy due to the possibility of a shrinking American defense umbrella, the changing face of European economic power in terms of global trade, and less access to cheap energy to power manufacturing. Lagarde stated, "Taken together, these shifts suggest that Europe's post-war growth model is eroding. And it is unlikely to return to the form we once knew": iShares MSCI Eurozone ETF (EZU) is doing quite well:
