Armenia and the USA to Determine Third-Party Investment Participation in TRIPP

Prime Minister Pashinyan Discusses Investment Programs of TRIPP

Various countries have shown interest in TRIPP, but the investment participation of third countries will be determined by the agreement between Armenia and the USA, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in response to a question from Azatutyun today:

“The investment participation of countries in TRIPP is clearly defined that third parties can be involved only with the consent of Armenia and the United States. Different countries are showing interest, but we also need to discuss this in specifics. Nevertheless, the investment volume is large, but not unlimited; we need to understand who is proposing what investment program and choose the best one,” emphasized Pashinyan.

TRIPP is an Armenian-American project. Yerevan and Washington have agreed that the share of the United States in the joint venture TRIPP will be 74% in the first 49 years, while Armenia's share will be 26%. If the cooperation is extended for another 50 years, Armenia's share will increase to 49%.

The strategic agreement regarding TRIPP is already in the ratification phase. First, the Constitutional Court must decide whether it contradicts the Constitution of Armenia, and after a positive conclusion, the document will be sent to the parliament for ratification. The decision of the Constitutional Court is expected on September 15.
