Starting July 1, a new system for assessing neediness will be implemented in Armenia, which may result in many families losing their right to receive benefits. This decision was made by the government back in 2025, but it was decided to test the system only in the Kotayk and Syunik regions. By the decision adopted on June 11, the new system will operate throughout the country.
Concerns have arisen among citizens that many families may lose benefits under the new system. In the regional centers of the Unified Social Service, responses to questions indicate that with the increase in pensions, the benefit levels may decrease, leading families to lose their benefits.
