Armenia Expands Nuclear Medicine Capabilities

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by Minister of Health Anait Avanesyan and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, visited the National Center for Nuclear Medicine. The Prime Minister got acquainted with the conditions created in the center and the upcoming programs. In 2025, the center was re-equipped, and its scope of activities was expanded. The volume of investments from the state budget exceeded 1 billion drams. More than 36 million drams were allocated for partial repairs of the center, and over 1 billion drams were directed to the acquisition of equipment. Thanks to state investments, the center has been equipped with a modern digital PET/CT system, high-class ultrasound and mammography equipment, colonoscopy and colposcopy systems, as well as uninterruptible power supplies. The National Center for Nuclear Medicine is a unique specialized center equipped with a cyclotron produced by the Belgian company IBA. As part of the center's development, relevant equipment for the development of theranostic medicine has been acquired following already conducted competitive procedures. According to responsible officials, the created infrastructural and technological capabilities are an important prerequisite for the further development of diagnostic and therapeutic directions in nuclear medicine, the application of new radiopharmaceuticals, the implementation of theranostic approaches, as well as the formation of the corresponding professional potential.
