Starting next month, Armenia plans to export up to 40 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables to the UAE weekly. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed.
This was announced by the Ministry of Economy.
The Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, received the founder and CEO of Watermelon Ecosystem, Omar Mohammad Hamdan Abdullah Alshamsi, on August 27. Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan also participated in the meeting.
Omar Alshamsi presented the activities of the Watermelon Ecosystem platform, established in the UAE, which connects restaurants, food suppliers, producers, and farmers, offering solutions for digital purchasing and supply chain management.
During the meeting, opportunities for implementing cooperation and investment programs, expanding export opportunities for Armenian products, and establishing connections between Armenian producers and buyers and distributors in the UAE and other international markets were discussed.
Gevorg Papoyan presented the investments made in Armenia's agricultural sector in recent years and the production capacities that meet international standards, emphasizing the importance of expanding access to international markets for small and medium-sized producers.
At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, which will create the opportunity for organizing long-term and sustainable exports of fresh fruits and vegetables from Armenia.
