YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. Armenia's GDP grew by 6.7% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from the National Statistical Committee of the Republic.
The pace of economic growth accelerated compared to the first quarter of the current year, when GDP increased by 5.2% year-on-year. Compared to the first quarter of 2026, the economy grew by 19.2% in the second quarter.
The nominal GDP of Armenia in the second quarter amounted to 2,834,894.2 million drams. Of this amount, 2,523,831.8 million drams accounted for gross value added, which made up 89% of GDP.
Among major sectors, the highest growth rates were recorded in the administration and related activities sector at 25.5%, financial and insurance activities at 22.4%, transportation and storage at 22.2%, as well as in mining and quarrying at 21.5%, construction at 20%, and information and communication at 15%.
At the same time, the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector shrank by 15.3% year-on-year (its share in GDP is 6.6%). In wholesale and retail trade and the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, which accounted for 14.6% of GDP, a decline of 0.2% was noted. The manufacturing industry grew by 2.2%.
GDP per capita in the second quarter of 2026 amounted to 913,892 drams, or $2,468 (2,122 euros).
Figures and Forecasts for Armenia's Economy
The state budget for 2026 anticipates an economic growth of 5.4%. According to the Central Bank's monetary policy report for the second quarter of the current year, GDP growth in Armenia is expected to be between 4.5% and 4.1% by the end of 2026, depending on the scenario (A-B).
