Phone Conversation Between Armenian Prime Minister and Azerbaijani President

The conversation addressed progress in the peace process and economic cooperation

The Prime Minister's press service reports that on August 8, 2026, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"During the phone conversation, the parties exchanged views on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Peace Summit held on August 8, 2025, in Washington with the support of US President Donald Trump, during which peace was established between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the text of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia was also preliminarily signed.

The parties particularly noted the important role of President Donald Trump and the Government of the United States in advancing the peace process.

The parties noted the progress made in the past year in the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

During the conversation, the development of trade and economic ties between the two countries was emphasized as a tangible manifestation of the benefits of peace. In this context, the parties noted the export of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia, as well as the transit of goods through Azerbaijani territory to Armenia and from Armenia to other destinations.

Additionally, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of the TRIPP route in accordance with the agreements reached in Washington.

The parties emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to promote the peace process and ensure long-term peace, stability, connectivity, and economic cooperation in the region," the statement said.
