Armenia's gross international reserves (GIR) grew by 50.5% year-on-year by June 2026, reaching a new record of $5.863 billion. In the same period of 2025, the growth was 21.1%, reaching $3.897 billion.
In May, GIR increased by 2.4% (or $138.9 million), while in May 2025, there was a decline of 0.5% (or $18.9 million). Over the first five months of the current year, GIR rose by 15.3% (or $776.3 million), compared to a growth of 5.7% (or $211.4 million) in the same period last year.
The annual growth of GIR in May 2026 was driven by a similar increase in external assets, which rose by 50.8% to $5.847 billion.
It is worth noting that in 2025, GIR increased by 38% or $1.4 billion, totaling $5.086 billion, while in 2024, the growth was only 2.2%.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) opened access for Armenia to a Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) credit of approximately $25.1 million.
