The Armenian government approved a new program to support agricultural product exporters at a meeting on September 3, 2026. The program aims to assist producers who have faced difficulties due to restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation.
Economy Minister Gevork Papoyan noted that the document is essentially a continuation of previous support programs, with some improvements. In particular, there are already products that have exhausted their export potential as of September.
Under the new program, a uniform compensation amount of 50 drams for flower exports will be introduced for all countries, whereas previously different amounts were set for different countries.
From June to August 2026, approximately 4506 tons of peppers, 4041 tons of tomatoes, 408.6 tons of strawberries, and around 10 million flowers were exported.
Papoyan also noted that the export volumes of bottled brandy exceeded last year's figures by 19%, while the export of fruits and vegetables decreased by 1%.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that export diversification should become the government's strategy.
